Becky + Logan
VILLA CESARE, SCHERERVILLE, IN
If rain on your wedding day brings good luck, Mr. and Mrs. Dexter have the luckiest marriage of all time! Because, on Logan and Becky’s wedding day, it rained, sleeted, and snowed!
The precipitation may’ve been crazy, but it didn’t take away from Logan and Becky’s big day, and I’m so excited to share the Dexters’ joy-filled wedding at Villa Cesare in Schererville, Indiana on the blog!
Logan & Becky became husband & wife on April 27, 2019.
Since meeting Logan and Becky at Sip Coffee House in Crown Point, Indiana in early 2018, I’ve been dying for this big day to arrive. I mean, I couldn’t imagine a sweeter couple to work with.
Becky is type A in the best way. She’s organized and likes to have things done ahead of schedule. (She and I have similar personalities, which made it extra fun to work with her.) In the meantime, Logan is laidback and gives really great hugs. (I can’t help sharing this. Gotta love a groom who’s a hugger!)
Just like Logan and Becky’s personalities, their big day was the perfect combination of organized and fun, and as Becky told me during the reception, “Today was essentially perfect!”
Logan played a big part in choosing the couple’s spring color palette.
More often than not, I feel like grooms have one simple request when it comes to wedding planning. (For example, my husband’s only request was that we have pie instead of cake.)
Logan’s request was simple. He wanted orange to be one of their wedding colors.
When I met with Logan and Becky the first time, Becky shared that she was a little apprehensive about orange. But, she decided on a blush, yellow, and orange color palette, and it was amazing!
It may’ve been snowing outside, but the spring colors certainly made the day feel warmer!
Photos were a bit of an adventure . . .
Before every wedding, brides, grooms, and I decide on photo locations. This helps the day run as smoothly as possible.
Logan, Becky, and I had locations picked out, but when I realized the forecast wasn’t in our favor, I knew we were going to need a backup plan. Fortunately, Crown Point, Indiana is home of the Lake County Historic Courthouse—a beautiful courthouse with lots of natural light and the perfect location for indoor photos.
I’ve shot inside the courthouse on a Saturday before, and according to locals, this building is always open.
So, after Logan and Becky officially became husband and wife at Griffith First Christian Church (the same church Becky’s parents were married in), we headed downtown Crown Point.
And, we discovered that the courthouse was locked!
Someone told us it was for cleaning. Somebody else said that it was because it was prom weekend, and they didn’t want people wondering the courthouse for prom photos.
Whatever the case, we couldn’t get in!
Realizing this, Candace (my second shooter) and I looped around downtown looking for a building with an awning or anywhere big enough we could photograph Logan, Becky, and their bridal party of 10. We couldn’t find anything.
Now, the courthouse was closed, but the Lake County Historic Courthouse is particularly amazing because the basement is full of small businesses. Realizing we had nowhere else to go (We couldn’t go back to the church because their was a service and couldn’t take photos at the reception venue because guests were arriving.), I ran into the basement, which was open, determined to find anyone with a key.
After pleading my case to several shop employees and business owners and a very kind employee made a phone call for me, the elevator opened, and we were able to get upstairs!
Logan and Becky, thank you for being such great sports during that crazy process. That’s hands down the most hectic thing that’s ever happened to me on a wedding day! I hope you look at your photos and feel the craziness was worth it!
Logan, Becky, & their guests celebrated their wedding at Villa Cesare in Schererville, Indiana!
After becoming husband and wife and begging to use the courthouse for photos, Becky and Logan were ready to eat and celebrate that wedding at Villa Cesare in Schererville, Indiana.
And, guys, I have to tell you that Logan and Becky’s reception was incredible! It started with some truly amazing speeches from Becky’s maid of honor and Logan’s best man. Both speeches were thoughtful, sentimental, personal, and funny.
That said, I can’t help telling you a little more about Danielle’s (Becky’s maid of honor and sister) speech. Becky is a huge Friends fan. With this in mind, Danielle picked up the mic and promptly gave Joey’s wedding toast! It was perfect!
After cutting the cake, toasting the bride and groom, and enjoying a delicious meal, the dance floor opened, and it was full all night long! While Logan and Becky’s friends and family clearly love to have a good time, I think it’s safe to say that Sound Sonic Entertainment and their excellent DJ work played a large role in keeping the party going.
Long story short, Logan and Becky’s reception was amazing, and I think it’s safe to say that the bride, groom, and their guests loved every second!
