BOHO CHIC HAWAII BEACH
KEAWA'ULA BEACH, OAHU
All photos shot in film. The inspiration for this photo shoot comes from a Hawaiian wedding poem: No Keia La, No Keia Po, A Mau Loa, translated to mean, "From this day, from this night, forever more." We wanted to create a light, airy, ethereal look for the day “La” portion of this shoot, and play with the ambient, romantic, and intimate light as the sun sat at Keawa'ula Beach and turned to night “Po”. This photo shoot was created for our real life couple, Ashley and Jonathon, who were married prior at the Four Seasons Hotel at Ko Olina, Hawaii. We were thrilled about the opportunity to photograph at one of Oahu’s most remote beaches, Keawa'ula beach on the island’s northwestern tip. The images were created through a hybrid of traditional film and digital photography.
We wanted to create an enchanting and classic design for this shoot that showcased the eternal romance “A Mau Loa” of our couple reflected by the magical landscape of Keawa'ula beach. Designer and florist Jeff Alencastre opted for a simple but elegant teepee structure to drape lights and the chandelier over the couple’s sweetheart table. We paired soft yellow, pink and light blue florals to offset the more rich natural elements in the woven and jute rugs and poufs, leather poufs, and wooden table provide by Ambient Rentals and Aloha Artisans. We were able to further incorporate the Hawaiian wedding poem with the help of calligrapher, Phoenix Feathers Calligraphy, created a custom table runner with the poem’s wording repeated throughout. Set against emerald mountains and white sand beach, the photos captured ethereal theme.
Ashley, our bride, wore a sexy yet airy and sophisticated dress by Muse by Berta. Her dress alone added to the dreamy quality of this shoot.
This inspiration is perfect for those brides who look to incorporate natural elements in an outdoor beach setting as well as custom elements of their design and decor.
